Mom says:

Tuesday, February 10th, 2004

Picked Tommy up from school. The teacher said he started the day good but had a problem around lunch. Upon further questioning Tommy explained only that the problem WAS lunch. I’m not surprised since he is on one of his food binges. Took him to group and watched him nervously work up to a frenzy as he waited for group to begin. When I came back to pick him up he was dripping sweat and insisted on sitting in the cold for 10 minutes. Took him to buy a new notebook on the way home and he wandered the store the entire time. Came home and he bathed without any incidents. I left for a meeting and Dad was put in charge. Tommy ate his dinner, read in bed for a few then turned out his light much earlier than usual. I gor home and he started moaning and complaining two hours later. Keeps saying his throat hurts. I have a nagging suspicion that he may have the strep that has been going through the schools. We’ll find out tomorrow after we see how he acts before school.

Dad reports:
Tommy is in a good mood and I was perhaps too short with him although not rude and not attacking. He went to school in good spirits.

Mercury in vaccines cited as possible autism cause

Vaccines containing mercury may be contributing to the rise in autism even though population studies have not shown a connection between vaccines and the disorder, scientists told the National Academies of Science Monday.

“I want to make clear that this is a hypothesis,” Aposhian said. “I think (autism) is going to be a mercury (excretion) disorder. We cannot prove it at this time.”

Mercury is a potent neurotoxin shown to cause lowered intelligence and learning and memory problems even at low levels of exposure. People are exposed to mercury primarily through dental fillings, vaccines and fish consumption.

Dad’s note: Please do not take this as a suggestion to quit getting vaccinated.

Dad reports this morning:
At 6:09 Tommy sounded like he was stirring already. I know I gave him his medicine last night. Did he actually take it?

Dad reports last night:
Last night Tommy and I fought a war of attrition. I gave into sleep first but put the portable motion alarm in the kitchen. Tommy naturally heard me setting it up. What he didn’t know was that I couldn’t get it working right and gave up before I woke the whole house.
