Got the same “He had a great day” that I get every day from Tommy’s teacher. Took Tommy to STAR and then to Ci-Ci’s for dinner. He only complained the entire time we were in the car. Everything his brother and sister said irritated him. His watch beeped and he screamed that it was my fault because the watch was in his backpack with a bunch of magnets. I put neither the watch nor the magnets in his backpack. His sister “slug bugged” him and he chewed her out for picking on him. He ate his dinner with the grace of a 2-year-old and then we came home. He has been in the bathroom for an hour now and still hasn’t bathed.

Tommy moves a little slower each and every day as the week proceeds. By tomorrow he should need a lift truck to get him up and out the door. He seemed calm but I still have this nagging anxiety in the back of my head just waiting for his inevitable crash. Life with Tommy is like a roller coaster that never ends. His days go up and then they fall down and before you have recovered he’s back up again. Sometimes I just want to get off the ride.
