I cleaned Tommy’s room and tried to get all of the plunder he’s stolen from his siblings back t its’ rightful owners. If Tommy sees something he likes, he takes it. How is it that he can understand his own property rights but not those of others?

Monday, March 22nd, 2004It’s the first day of spring break and already Tommy is “bored”. He has called everyone he knows and wants to call people he barely knows. I told him we’d visit McKay’s (used book store) if he went through his bookcase and pulled out some books to trade. Remarkably, the child who reads his books dozens of times, was willing to trade in a small pile of books. I think we’ll use that outing as incentive for good behavior tomorrow and visit the store on Wednesday. I’m thinking about taking everyone to the zoo on Friday.

Monday, March 22nd, 2004It’s just me for the rest of the week again. Tommy didn’t sleep in for this first day of spring break. He has spent the morning wandering the house with that “I’m looking for something but I won’t know what it is until I find it” look on his face. Now he’s begging to use my computer. I hope he’s kind and doesn’t download anything. My old computer is on its’ last leg and no matter how many times I ask him not to Tommy keeps putting in high graphic games that lock the machine up. “But I thought it would work this time.”
