Dad reports this morning:
Tommy seemed nervous about school. His temper not volatile yet sharp. I think his anxiety is high but he stands to do well if the school system doesn’t quit him.
Dad reports yesterday:
Tommy’s first day of school. No busing in place. His mother, sister and I drove him. I walked him into the school feeling the same overwhelming pressure I felt in high school myself. I showed Tommy how to figure out where a “normal” student goes (did not say “normal student” to Tommy of course) then he and I made to the office to figure out what he should be doing. They didn’t know so they went to one of the sheets that says where the “normal” students go and said, “he goes here.” Joy. Tommy is in a crowd of 2200 people with some vague idea of what he is supposed to do.
Well, he didn’t arrested. He made it to class. He apparently did things and we received no phone calls. I’d call it a successful experience!
