Tommy held it together pretty well yesterday that is until I came home and lambasted everyone because the dog had a powerful accident in the bathroom. I guess I can’t say that I haven’t yelled at Tommy anymore. Even after my explosion Tommy was being sweet offering to spend his Christmas money on the family instead of himself.
Don’t get me wrong. He is still having nasty outbursts but they are brief and less frequent.
The grandparents gave a good suggestion. We all treat Tommy like the 14 ear old that he is. We give him 14 year old expectations and responsibilities. Perhaps we should be treating him more like a kindergardener which more aptly matches his mentality. If so, we must be selective in how we do it because one of Tommy’s favorite yells is “I’m not a baby! Stop treating me like a baby!”
