Dad reports:
Tommy woke this morning and laid in bed until I came upstairs then said, “I’ve been awake for hours.” He refused to take his medicine then got up repeating sharply “I’m hungry.” “I’m hungry.” and took his medicine only when I said he could not have food until he’d had his pills.
He ate then went back to bed until 3pm. Woke again and refused to unload the dishwasher, the only thing his mother asked of him today other than reading Romeo and Juliet. He refused to read the book until near 6pm.
At 6:40 he refused to take his evening medicine repeating sharply “I don’t wanna. I don’t wanna.” I told him no food for him tonight if the dishes weren’t unloaded by the time I finished cooking.
In other news the school person that reviewed Tommy (not the independent consultant) called and said, “you mean [the independent consultant] hasn’t gone over the results with you yet?” to which I replied “we will probably go into the meeting tomorrow, get the paperwork and reschedule a review” (not in those words) The overview is that “Tommy exhibits autistic behavior and his program needs to be changed to compensate for his autism”.
